The Venue

Shimla is known as the "Queen of Indian Hill Stations" and is a popular summer retreat. The best time to visit is from April to June, when the weather is pleasant and there are many activities to enjoy. Your conference is being organized at the cusp of the season and you will be able to enjoy the unspoilt spring while at Shimla.

There are multiple ways to reach Shimla, India, including by air, train, or road:

By air
The nearest airport is Chandigarh Airport, which is about 120 kilometers from Shimla. You can take a hired car for travel from the airport to Shimla. You can also fly to Shimla's own airport, Jubbarhatti Airport, which is about 23 kilometers from the city. However, Jubbarhatti Airport is not always operational, especially during monsoon season.

By train
Shimla is connected to Kalka by a narrow-gauge railway line. The Kalka-Shimla toy train is a popular option that takes about 7 hours. The Kalka station is connected with New Delhi by a number of high speed trains. Especially the Shatabdi expresses, which run twice a day. The overnight Kalka Mail from Delhi reaches Kalka early in the morning, connecting to trains for Shimla.

By road
Shimla is well connected by road, and you can drive from major cities like Delhi or Chandigarh. The Chandigarh-Shimla highway is in good condition and takes about 3.5 hours to reach from Chandigarh. You can also take a bus from Delhi, Jaipur, Punjab, Haryana, and parts of Uttar Pradesh.
